I agree that surface water and groundwater are interconnected. There are three ways through which surface water interacts with groundwater. The inflow of water from groundwater gives water to the streams, through streambed water is lost by streams due to outflow and finally depending on the stream and groundwater location. The streams remain rich in water due to snowmelt and rainfall but groundwater is equally responsible for the flow of streams. Stream water surface should be lower than the stream’s water table so that stream can gain water. Stream water surface elevation should be higher than the water table so that groundwater can receive water from the stream (Li et al., 2019).
